Thrifty Finds

I always hear about people finding great things at thrift shops, but I can't find anything very interesting whenever I go. Even when I worked at Salvation Army, I never managed to get my hands on anything worth while, besides books and cds. But I've realized that it takes a special eye to zero in on the good stuff. And now that I have my own place to furnish and decorate, I'm way more interested in picture frames, end tables, lamps and all kinds of things for the house.
Clothing is another issue all together though. I don't really like borrowing clothes from most people, let alone buying someone's old clothing. I had to get over certain compulsive tendencies, but I went to Salvation Army in the West Island. I tried stuff on and rooted through racks of clothing and bins of bags and frame. I got away with a checked shirt, a leather purse (missing the strap, but still!) and the best of all a frame of Steinlen's Tournee du Chat Noir, a painting I've wanted for years.

All in all it was a good day. I did miss out on a great rocking chair made of bamboo by seconds. A woman decided to buy it just when I spotted it. You win some, you lose some I guess.
I'm really looking forward to occasion to use the purse, I think it's small enough to be a large clutch. We'll see how that turns out.
Until then, cheers!
