Jewelry Board

As long as I can remember, I have had a problem when it comes to putting jewelry away in an organized, easy-to-get-to kind of way. Jewelry boxes just don't cut it -they're great to put little stud or dangly earrings, bracelets and rings, maybe even a couple of necklaces. But add some statement earrings, several necklaces and things start getting tangled.
I have two jewelry boxes and too many hooks bending backwards with the weight of all my necklaces, with a few things lying around here and there. Needless to say, it's a bit of a mess.
I came across this post on design*sponge, and while I do love the idea, I was too lazy to go out and get all the necessary "equipment" for this project. I leave my relatively bigger projects for the summer time when I can just sit outside and do them while enjoying the weather.
I did, however, let myself be inspired by this idea and made do with what I had readily available -that is, whatever was in the apartment and exactly where I remembered it being.

an old bristol board

that I varnished with left over varnish from our kitchen renovations

some dollar store scrapbook paper, a bit of left over black ribbon
and some Pritt glue to hold in all in place

and voila!
It might not look as organized as the jewelry box on d*s, and it doesn't fit everything I have to hang on it, but it'll do for now.
I've seen many variations of this type of jewelry board, but believe me, this one is the easiest and looks pretty good, if I may say so.
